Learning Resources Centre (LRC)
The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) comprises a light and airy library with a silent study area, group work tables and laptops. There is a separate area with computers for students to drop in and use for study at any time. The LRC is open every day in term-time and during some of the holidays too.
The library has many resources - textbooks and general interest books, fiction books, graphic novels, quick-reads, books with audio CDs, journals for research and general interest magazines too. There are national and local newspapers, up-to-date careers books and university prospectuses.
The LRC offers access to good quality websites for research and study including 3,000 e-books specially selected for further education students. Library staff are always happy to assist students with using the many resources available and to meet student requests for new library items whenever possible.
The LRC also has two TVs with DVD players and over five hundred DVDs for both general interest and study support, from documentaries to comedy and from classic films to latest releases. These are available to students via our free DVD loans service.
Our reprographics service also offers a range of facilities to students including photocopying in black and white and colour, laminating and spiral binding for a professional finish to coursework.
The LRC is an integral support service, offering a quiet place to study, plenty of support material and library staff on hand to help all Itchen Sixth Form College students to achieve their best results.
