About Itchen College

Itchen College is a community sixth-form college on the eastern side of Southampton which offers high quality courses to students of all ages.
Courses are offered at all levels, and achievement is high. In 2008, students achieved a 100% pass rate in over 30 subjects at A2 level and an overall A Level pass rate of 98% - record results for the 3rd year running.
Full-time students study a wide range of courses including A Levels, BTECs, NVQs and GCSEs. Itchen College is also the founding College of the ‘Learn and Earn’ initiative at level two, which has attracted national interest. Furthermore, the Itchen College Academy of Sport attracts over 100 students to enhance performance and improve sporting potential.
Itchen has been one of the fastest growing colleges in the South East for the past five years and was recently cited for its success and high quality management. In 2008 Itchen received an exemplary Ofsted report and was awarded ‘Outstanding in Equality of Opportunity’.
Itchen was awarded grades 1 and 2 in most curriculum areas, and was regarded as “good” overall. The Inspection team praised the College, defining it as outstandingly inclusive, both educationally and socially, where all students are made to feel “particularly valued”.
Students are mainly from areas of Southampton, east of the River Itchen and its hinterland. A significant number are international students. The ethnic student proportion is 7.8% which is more than would be expected for the college location.
The local community can access services in addition to education and training; such as the sports centre, nursery, concert hall, conference suite and fitness facilities.
