This is a single award GCSE in Biology (AQA GCSE Biology 8461).
What will the course enable me to achieve?
You can achieve a GCSE in Biology and develop your science skills. It covers the following topics: cell biology; organisation; infection and response; homeostasis; inheritance, variation and evolution; ecology; key ideas. Students will also study a series of 10 practicals.
How will I be taught?
The teaching will be fairly formal and will include using basic laboratory equipment.
How will I be assessed?
At the end of the course students will take two written exams. Each exam will be 1 hour 45 minutes long and worth 100 marks.
After completing your GCSE you may like to consider moving on to another course but there are many avenues to take after completing this qualification.
Are there any additional costs?
You will need to buy a textbook which the tutor will advise you on at the first class. Please bring pen, pencil, eraser, ruler and paper.
