Diploma in Education and Training Level 5 - City & Guilds
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an 'in service' qualification designed for those working, or wanting to work, as teachers/trainers in England. It may be possible for pre-service teachers/trainers )defined as those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers) to also complete this qualification.
All candidates, whether pre-service or in-service must have access to 100 hours of teaching.
What will the course cover?
This course leads to the achievement of 12 credits made up of units of study covering the following:
- Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Facilitate learning and development in groups and individuals
- Understanding assessment in education and training
- Understanding the principles and practice of assessment
The course will have a practical emphasis, with scope to learn and practice different teaching delivery methods.
You will demonstrate your competence and knowledge in the above through a combination of practical teaching in the course and theoretical assignments.
No teaching or training practice is needed other than that done within the course time.
The full AET level 3 qualification is worth 12 credits which gives progression to the next levels of – the Greenwich University Professional Certificate and Professional Graduate Certificate in Education and Training (Post Compulsory) should you wish to continue.
