Teacher and Trainer Training
The teacher and trainer training programmes at Itchen College offer candidates a comprehensive set of opportunities to gain the required qualifications to teach in all areas of the lifelong learning sector. The programmes include both attended and distance learning modes to suit your circumstances. We offer the full progression from Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) through to the Greenwich University accredited Diploma to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).
We specialise in programmes designed to meet the needs of community based trainers as well as those who may be in educational, industrial and commercial training contexts.
Additionally we offer a full range of Learning and Development NVQs for candidates who wish to qualify from evidence gained in the workplace.

Teacher and trainer training programmes – NVQs
Personalised NVQs in Learning and Development programmes 2009-10
The following programmes are available for you or your staff on a personalised, flexible basis. You can start at any time during the year. Varying packages of support are available starting with the basic package as outlined below:
- Induction
- Regular support meetings at agreed time, telephone and email support (usually up to 10 hours)
- Work-place visits to carry out assessment
- Professional discussions
- Portfolio assessment
- Certification with OCR

Group-based attended learning opportunities, leading to qualifications in teaching and training in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
Group-based attended opportunities in teaching, training and learning development are available in the areas given below. These course offer the advantage of learning in a group at set times of the day and week. If you prefer this method of gaining your training and teaching qualification, then these are for you.

Flexible Distance Learning Teacher Training Qualification
The following is a flexible distance learning programme leading to the Diploma in the Lifelong Learning Sector provided in partnership with Greenwich University. You can start in September or January. There is accreditation for up to 50% of the course if you already hold recognised teaching and training qualifications (ask for details).
