College Contingency Plan: Adverse weather

If the weather is sufficiently bad to render either getting into college dangerous or the site itself dangerous, we may have to close or partially close the College. we notify staff and students via the following channels.

We will notify staff and students via the following channels:

  • Channel 1: A text message sent to all staff and students;
  • Channel 2: A detailed email to staff and students via the College email system;
  • Channel 3: Notification via the home page of our website, which will be regularly updated;
  • Channel 4: Notification to BBC Radio Solent. (In case of contradictory information, please ensure you refer to our website.)

We will endeavor to issue updates as early as possible and will continue providing updates, via the said channels, as we respond to the situation.

Staff and students: Please ensure you have provided us with your up-to-date telephone numbers - mobile or land line. (Note: many land lines can now receive text messages).

Students: You can update your mobile number using the Student ISIS system.

Staff: Please email CIS.

Public Exams: It is near impossible to cancel a public exam. We will therefore make arrangements to hold the exam under virtually all foreseeable conditions. Details of arrangements will be posted on the website.

EMA and attendance: If a student is absent from College is due to College closure, or partial closure, the student will not be disadvantaged as long as they have followed the instructions issued. However, if a student is absent when they should be in attendance, then they will loose EMA.
