The Nursery @ Itchen College

Working together with you, our qualified childcare workers will strive to ensure that every child is cared for according to its needs. This partnership between the nursery and parents is the key to your child feeling secure and being confident.

Through play your child will be learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage. Their individual progress will be monitored carefully and their activities planned to enhance every aspect of their development.

Whilst all this learning is taking place your child will be having fun with sand and water, construction toys and creative play - and most importantly, making friends.

Our Nursery

The Nursery @ Itchen College was graded overall as “Good” in its recent Ofsted inspection (November 2008). Inspectors found that its well planned and child orientated environment ensures all children are fully included in all activities.

Other findings from the inspection include:

• High staff ratios ensure children are well supported throughout the nursery;
• Staff have secure knowledge and understanding of child protection, ensuring children are effectively safeguarded at all times;
• Children make good progress given their starting points and capabilities. They are very keen to come into nursery each morning;
• Staff take account of children's individual needs and ensure children are included in play that interests them and supports their learning;
• Children are confident to approach staff to ask for support and assistance;
• Children's health and safety is well promoted. They enjoy fresh air and exercise in the well resourced garden, and a selection of fresh fruit and salad vegetables at snack time promotes their dietary health;
• Children throughout the nursery are very well behaved. Staff are good role models and use praise and encouragement consistently; and
• Children are polite and well mannered to adults and to one another.

• Friday: 8am-4pm
