This is a course for students who are looking for a practical approach to their music studies.
This course is for you if:
- you love music! This full time course will ensure you are studying and developing in a subject you love with likeminded creatives.
This course is part of our Creative Arts Academy.
What will I study on this course?
The vast majority of your study will be practical and centred around performing and making music. The units of study focus on solo and ensemble performance and putting on live gigs and learning how to record.
The course is based firmly on popular music, although you will also learn about performing in other styles. During the course you will perform on a number of different occasions, ranging from gigs in the Student Centre to showcases at external venues. You will also plan and run music events yourself.
You will spend a lot of your time working practically on our suite of iMacs which run Logic Pro (industry standard recording and sequencing software). You will be encouraged to explore your musicality and to create original material using the latest technology.
Extended opportunities and enrichment
Students will take part in showcases throughout the year and go on visits to theatres and music studios and perform live gigs in the local community.
Where can this course lead to?
Many students progress to university to study Music, Music Technology or Music Performance. Our fantastic links to local recording studios have seen our students go onto work in industry and many continue to pursue a career in the music industry.
