College News

On Thursday 17 August our students made their way to the Student Centre to pick up their results and celebrate with friends and their subject teachers.

Itchen has had another strong year for results, including:

Students picking up their results were excited about going on to a range of destinations including places at top universities, high-flying jobs and places on competitive apprenticeships.

Principal Alex Scott, who has been in post since April, commented, ‘We are delighted with the excellent results our students have achieved, which would not have been possible without their hard work and dedication, supported by staff at the college and encouraged by their parents. In this transition year to the more rigorous linear A Levels, we are particularly pleased that we have seen high grades rise by 6%. I am excited to lead Itchen into another successful academic year.’

We spoke to various students who were thrilled with their results day grades.

Many students were celebrating with their friends in the student centre. Student James Chawner is now heading off to Bournemouth University to study Business Studies after receiving his excellent results of A, A, Distinction* in Business, Economics and Applied Law.

Bethany Spencer was also elated with her results, achieving a A*, A, B in Sociology, World Development and Geography. She will be heading to the University of Southampton to study Geography.

Several of Itchen’s faculties have also done well. Head of Faculty for Business, Maria Sparks, commented on the results, ‘I’m very proud of all of our students’ achievements. They have worked hard for the results and deserve the university places they have gained. Business and Economics are in their first year of the linear A Levels, so we are particularly pleased with these high grades. Business continues to be a popular faculty and we are excited for the new academic year.’

It has been another year of success for the college with many achievements in Sport & PE, Performing Arts and Social Sciences & Care, along with several subjects achieving 100% pass rates.

Well done to all students who received their results and we wish you the best of luck with your exciting future careers.
