Welcome Event 2019
There's only a few weeks to go until Welcome Event! Here are some frequently asked questions about our two-day year 11 taster event.
If you have any more questions which aren't answered below, call 023 8043 5636 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: How do I know if I'm invited to Welcome Event?
A: If you have applied to Itchen, been given a place at your interview and returned your green acceptance form then you're invited to Welcome Event. If you haven't applied for September yet, there's still time! Applications are still open and if you get yours in asap you'll also be invited to the event.
Q: What is the purpose of Welcome Event?
A: Welcome Event allows you to try out the courses you said you were interested in at your interview. It gives you the chance to see if you're going to enjoy doing these courses in September and to make up your mind if you're stuck deciding. It also gives you a chance to experience Itchen and decide whether or not it's the right place for you.
Q: How do I know what day I need to attend?
A: We've sent Welcome Event information packs out via email - these were sent on Friday 7 June so will have already reached you. If you cannot find them in your inbox, check your spam folder. These emails contain your personalised timetable - with the day(s) you're attending clearly marked, as well as an information booklet, information about the sports trials, an ICON newsletter and an invitation to our Information Evening. If you're confused by any of the information, or wish to talk about your subjects, give us a call on 023 8043 5636.
If you cannot find your timetable in your inbox, contact us asap and we will resend this to you. If you did not provide an email address on your application, we will post your timetable out to you, or you can call and provide us with a suitable email address.
Q: How do I get to Itchen College on Welcome Event?

Q: When are the sports trials?
A: If you're interested in joining our men's and ladies' football teams, men's basketball team, men's rugby team or ladies' netball team, trials are taking place at the college and off-site on Thursday 27 June (Netball) and Friday 28 June between 1.30pm-3.00pm. Please see the information included in your Welcome Event email for specific details regarding timings and locations.
Other sports teams will hold their trials at the beginning of the Autumn Term.
Q: What do I do in my free periods over Welcome Event?
A: If you have free periods of time on your timetable, it's yours to do what you wish. There will be events happening throughout the college, so explore and get a feel for the famously friendly Itchen atmosphere. Hang out and socialise with friends (maybe even make some new ones!), check out our facilities, or grab some food in the College Centre.
Q: Are the courses on my Welcome Event timetable my final choices?
A: No. The courses on your Welcome Event timetable are the ones you expressed an interest in at your interview, but you don't have to make your final decisions until you come for enrolment. If you're concerned about your choices during the Welcome Event and wish to amend your timetable, speak to a member of staff at our help desk at Reception.
