Welcome to the Badminton Academy

The Itchen College Badminton Academy has been one of the strongest badminton teams in recent times.

With strong recreational and club opportunities, it also boasts a rich history of British College champions that include 2-time winner Josie Latimer in 2011 and 2012 and former English national junior champion Harry Wang in 2013.

We compete in the Hampshire College Badminton League as well as the British Colleges events where we have regular success individually and as a team, having reached the regional mixed team final in 2014. All badminton players also receive sports conditioning training once a week, which is supported by the college fitness team where personal goals are worked towards with your very own trainer.

The Badminton Academy holds strong links with Topflight Badminton Club who are one of the biggest and strongest clubs in the south of England where players can develop their skills and gain high level match practice.

Itchen College has been a massive part of my badminton development. When I was training here I became the English under-17 national singles champion and the help I received from the college both in my training and my studies has allowed me to continue to compete as well as get a really good education, which gained me a place at Loughborough University. If any young player is looking to get a great education and keep playing sport then Itchen is the place for you.
