Golfers Take On Longest Day Challenge

Golf Academy

On Wednesday 21 June, the hottest day of the year so far, Itchen's Golf Academy took part in Macmillan's Longest Day Golf Challenge, seeing them play 72 holes of golf in a day to raise money for the cancer charity.

The team played 15 hours, 23 miles, 50,000 steps and 4 rounds of golf on what was the hottest June day for 41 years, with temperatures exceeding 30°C in parts of the country. At the end of the day, they had raised £1500, with donations still coming in. The figure currently stands at over £1800!

Mark Wheeler, head of the Golf Academy, who took part said: "a big thank you to Tom Ridd, James Sankey, our academy sponsor Jason Parker, caddies Beth Goater, Amelia Williams and Matt for taking part in this worthy challenge. Next year I should pick a flatter course to play on!"

A friend of Mark's has offered to double the donation if the team raise £2000. They're almost there! You can donate by going to their JustGiving page.
