Itchen alumni Kelly Simm brought home both a silver and a bronze medal at this year’s Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast over the weekend.

As part of the Team England Artistic Gymnastics squad, Kelly helped them achieve their silver medal on Friday 7 April, narrowly missing out on gold to Canada by just 1.25 points in the team competition. She then achieved her own bronze medal on Monday 9 April in the women’s beam final, scoring 13.033.

Kelly was a member of Itchen’s Academy of Sport and was training for both the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2016 Olympics during her time at Itchen.

She’s recently also become national all-round champion after scoring 53.400 on her four routines at Liverpool’s Echo Arena in the 2018 Gymnastics British Championships in March.
