The Rugby Academy is for students of all skill levels and prides itself on developing individuals in an enjoyable and challenging environment.
Students in this Academy compete in the U18 NatWest Schools Cup, U18 Hampshire Cup, U19 Hampshire League and other local matches.
The Academy encourages students to take on an open and and attacking style of rugby, with players aiming to keep the ball in hand and develop their attacking skills. Students receive three outdoor training or playing sessions per week, alongside their strength and conditioning programmes.
Our rugby players come from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels, as the Academy welcomes players of all levels and abilities. We welcome newcomers to the game as well as continuing to provide an opportunity for experienced players to keep improving.
We have links with Eastleigh Rugby Football Club and Southampton Solent University, along with regular support from the Rugby Football Union, all of which provides our players with fantastic opportunities to develop their rugby ability.
The three years I played rugby at Itchen College were incredibly enjoyable, particularly the year that we won the Beach 5s. The coaches and staff made it possible for us players to have as many opportunities as possible to play rugby in all forms. Players from all levels of ability and playing experience were welcomed and took part and all enjoyed it the same.
Dan is in his first year at Itchen, studying A Level Biology, Geography and Statistics. He is also a member of the Rugby Academy and plays club rugby for Trojans. He's represented Hampshire at U16 and U17 level and has recently played in the last 8 of the National Cup.
