Our Art & Design learning area boasts brand new facilities, including a photography studio and expert teaching. Alongside this, there are opportunities for national and international trips to destinations such as London and New York. You will also take part in live briefs and attend seminars presented by globally famous creative individuals.

Anna was an international student from Latvia who excelled at Itchen, particularly in her Art & Design subjects. At Itchen's annual Celebration Event, she was awarded the BandV Graphics Award, presented by Colin Breckenridge from local graphic design company BandV.
Anna achieved fantastic grades of A*, Distinction*, A* and B in Graphics, Fine Art, Media Studies and Textiles AS.
Anna is now currently studying Graphic Design at the University of Brighton.

Mike Viana - Art & Design Learning Area Manager
Mike is a teacher of Graphics at Itchen. Before becoming a teacher, Mike worked as a Graphic Designer as part of several design companies, including the company BandV (Breckenridge and Viana) which he co-founded. The company still works with the college and is based in Bitterne.
Tim Riggs - Curriculum Manager
Tim is the Curriculum Manager of Photography. He has been a practicing freelance photographer for over 20 years, specialising in commercial photography. Tim also has several pieces of work in Southampton Solent University's permanent collection and has had images published in Life Imitating Art magazine. Annabelle Shaw - Curriculum Manager
Annabelle is the coordinator of Textiles and Interior Art & Design. She has exhibited work at the New Designers exhibition in London and works on commissioned interiors projects. As a freelance artist Annabelle also offers short courses in life drawing. Please speak directly with her if you have any interests in these courses.
Jon Lefley - Curriculum Manager
Jon is the Curriculum Manager for Fine Art. Jon has been a practicing designer and artist for 18 years. He has exhibited in numerous Birmingham galleries such as The Art Lounge and Sauce Gallery and has work in the permanent collection of global research laboratory Pfizer Inc.
