This course is for you if:
- you have an interest in how the media operates.
- you have an interest in practical or analytical aspects of the media.
Taking this course also allows you to become a part of our Creative Arts Academy.
Any other vocational course or Level 2 course within our Creative Arts Academy will combine well with this course. This course can also be taken alongside English or Maths GCSE for students who wish to improve their grades.
What topics will I study?
This course provides a practical and vocational introduction to Media. Through assignment work you will develop an understanding of the processes involved in media production. You will also have the opportunity to develop your own media production skills through producing media products such as radio programmes and short films. Understanding and analysing media products is another major aspect of the course.
You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
The course is made up of several units:
- Introducing media products and audience
- Audio visual media skills
- Print media skills
You will also explore:
- Media contexts and audiences
- The current media landscape
What can I do after this course?
With further training or study, you may wish to progress into media-related careers or continue with a study of the media in an A Level programme.
