Imperial War Museum Visit

English & Media

On Friday 4 December, Creative Writing A Level students went to London for the day to visit the Imperial War Museum!

In Creative Writing, students have been studying topics of Remembrance and Holocaust Memorial Day, and so the incredible Holocaust exhibition was of great interest to them. The exhibition runs chronologically, from before Hitler's rise to power to the aftermath of the Holocaust itself. Exhibits included hundreds of pairs of shoes from Auschwitz-Birkenau, letters written from those who were held at concentration camps, testimonies from survivors, and even the dress of a young Jewish girl who escaped from one of the camps. Students found the exhibition extremely interesting and affecting.

All of the Creative Writing students have also now produced poems, articles and short stories based on the events of the Holocaust and World War II, for a special memorial event in collaboration with Southampton Solent University next year.
