Itchen Oscars

English & Media

Students and staff from Itchen's creative arts subjects, including Creative Writing, Film, Journalism, Media, Music and Performing Arts, put on their fanciest outfits to attend the annual Itchen Oscars event. The event, now in its 13th year, was hosted by Learning Area Manager Dave Newman and English and Media teacher, Bev Luckman.

The theme this year was superheroes, and to kick off the night, the teachers had made a short film showing them transitioning into superheroes, which set both students and parents roaring with laughter.

Along with the awards throughout the night, there were also performances by staff and student bands, as well as an introductory speech from College Principal, Barry Hicks. Staff members introduced their awards categories, clearly showing how proud they were of their students' achievements. Students too had the opportunity to give a speech following their award, with many sincere thanks given to friends, parents and staff, and even one dedication to Kanye West!

Itchen also provided food and drink for guests outside in the quad, providing a much needed break from the heat of the main hall.

The night was a great success, and continues to be an excellent way to recognise student success, and in Barry Hicks' words, the 'superheroes' that are the teaching staff at Itchen.
