The Modern Languages learning area offers a good selection of courses, encouraging students to engage with their learning in a variety of ways, including working with a language assistant, using digital technology and going on exchange visits to experience first-hand the culture and language of French and Spanish citizens. We are also able to offer own language exams to our native speakers (eg Arabic, Chinese, Polish etc).
In the MFL department we believe that learning a foreign language is not just about learning new words, but it's also about learning new cultures and new ways of thinking.
Alannah was a keen linguist and took both French and Spanish A Levels whilst at Itchen. She also was awarded for Level 3: Achievement at the 2016 Celebration Event.
She achieved high results, gaining an A*, B, B in Economics, French and Spanish.
