Law Courts and Parliament Education Centre Trip

Uniformed Services, Law & Criminology

On Wednesday 7 December, 28 of our Law students visited Parliament's Education Centre.

The students had an informative tour of the palace followed by a Making Laws workshop, where students had to propose an idea for a new piece of legislation.

Our MP for Southampton Itchen, Royston Smith, popped in to see them and explained what was happening in the Supreme Court that day and the impact that European Legislation has had on our own domestic legislation.

After lunch, they proceeded to the Royal Courts of Justice, where the students had time to enter the courts and catch a flavour of some of the proceedings which were taking place. For some students, this will have been their third visit this term!

It truly is a wonderful way to engage with the parliamentary process and gain experience of these important courts.
