Uniformed Services Careers Presentations

Uniformed Services, Law & Criminology

On Wednesday 18 January, our Uniformed Services Academy were treated to four careers presentations from the Army, Royal Air Force, Navy and the Police.

Each presentation gave our students an insight into the various career paths they could take once they come to leave Itchen. The engaging talks explained the various roles within the individual services, where the jobs could take them - some all over the world - and what it meant for them going into higher education.

The RAF in particular explained their higher education programme, which allows their officers to put their training towards a degree that is accredited by the University of Lincoln and that it is a recognised civilian qualification.

Having the representatives from the different services into college provided context to our students' studies, showing them just what they are aiming to achieve and hopefully inspiring them to continue working hard to pass their qualifications and start working in whichever branch of the Uniformed Services they wish to enter.

It also allowed them to see that there isn't just one career path to go down and that they can branch out and really hone their skills and ultimately have a career they enjoy and excel at with many exciting opportunities along the way.

Thank you to all of our guests for coming into college and we hope to host more of these presentations soon.
