Band of Skulls Inspire Music Students
Visual & Performing Arts
On Thursday 19 October, renowned rock duo Band of Skulls visited our Performing Arts department to take part in a live acoustic session and a question and answer session with our music students.
Russell Marsden and Emma Richardson have released four studio albums and toured the world, as well as playing festivals such as Glastonbury and SXSW, so it was fantastic to have them visit and inspire our students with their story.
During the day, the band listened to our students perform and offered feedback to help them improve. Kayne Canney, who studies Music, Acting and Media, performed Ed Sheeran's Bloodstream and blew the band away. Afterwards, Kayne said "their feedback was great. It was really good to be given praise by people who have already made it."
Russell and Emma were impressed by the talent our musicians showed and said "it was really great to see so many students playing really well and being so enthusiastic."
After listening to our students perform, the duo gave a performance of their own to a packed audience before answering questions about their music and their career.
Music teacher Jack Dale was responsible for putting the whole day together and it was a fantastic opportunity for our students to get hands on with industry professionals. We look forward to more opportunities like this across the college in the future and thank Band of Skulls for coming in.
