Community Dance Platform
Visual & Performing Arts
On Wednesday 27th April, the college hosted a Community Dance Platform, an opportunity for dancers from the south to showcase their work.
The event involved performances from Itchen Dance and Musical Theatre students. The Itchen students were collaborating with local feeder schools and dance companies including: Redbridge Community School, Oasis Academy Lord's Hill, Brune Park School, Contrast Dance Company, Innov8 Dance Company, Parkewood School of Dance, M and M Academy of Dance, Abstract Dance and Performing Arts and Andover College.
Lots of parents and school staff watched the performance, as well as members of the local community. It was a great chance for guests to see the college's new Performing Arts facilities, which only opened at the start of the academic year, alongside the fantastic variety of community talent on display. The event was also raising money for charity, Wessex Heartbeat.
Ria Archer, coordinator of the Community Dance Platform, said, 'The performance was a huge success and demonstrated the breadth of dance talent within Hampshire.'
Thanks to all who came along to support and to all the dancers involved in the show. We look forward to running more collaborative community events in the future.
