Itchen Hosts Theatre For Life Workshops

Visual & Performing Arts

On Monday 23, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 October, the college hosted youth theatre company Theatre For Life. They ran professional workshops for performing arts students from across Southampton with 10 of our own students given places.

Over the three days in October Half Term, the young actors worked closely with industry professionals, actors Ameer Choudrie, Robbie Smith and Poppy Andrews and vocal coach Stephen King, across the entire performing arts spectrum. This included acting, dancing, singing and auditioning as part of an intensive musical theatre programme.  Working hands-on with these highly-skilled professionals provided them with industry-standard tuition before they were mock-auditioned at the end of the three days. This gave the students experience of what it would be like to actually go through the audition process.

We hope the students all learned a lot from this workshop and that they put their new skills into practice in their various performing arts courses and into their future careers in the theatre. Thank you to Theatre For Life for letting us host such a fantastic programme and we look forward to working with them again to provide more opportunities like this to our students.
