Photography Student Wins International Award

Photography student Araike Severino de Silva has won a photography competition in his home country of Italy, coming in first place to win a grand prize of €500.

The competition, 'Fotografare la Commedia' (which translates as 'Photographing the Comedy'), was set up by private catholic school Fondazione Sacro Cuore in Milan and any students with an interest in photography could enter. The aim was the take a photo that represented the 'Divine Comedy', a poem by Italian Renaissance poet Dante Alighieri.

Araike placed first with his image (above) out of 380 entries, and another of his images was also shortlisted by the judges. The international student studies A Level Photography and Fine Art alongside learning English.
