Guest Lecture: Mitch Lee, founder of Mitch's Kitchen
As part of Itchen's drive to encourage students to think about their future ambitions and careers, our first year Business students were treated to a talk by Mitch Lee, founder of vegan food company Mitch's Kitchen.
Mitch graduated from Bournemouth University with first class honours in Sports Development and worked part-time in a vegetarian cafe whilst pursuing free-running and sports coaching. The cafe turned vegan during his time working there, and having always had a passion for healthy eating, Mitch took the plunge and went vegan for Veganuary. He hasn't looked back since.
He ran the cafe for a while before deciding to start his own business, launching Mitch's Kitchen with his wife Shirin. The meals are produced fresh every day, with recipes developed by himself, before being posted to customers all over the UK.
Mitch talked to the students about the hurdles he had to face when setting up his own business and gave them tips and suggestions for things they could do themselves when following their entrepreneurial goals, such as using social media correctly, trying to do as much themselves as they can instead of outsourcing and the importance of market research.
