Our High School Programme offers International students the unique opportunity to improve their English, while fully immersing themselves in a genuine British high school environment, studying alongside UK students.

Students can choose from an extensive selection of A Level and Level 3 Vocational courses, spanning a broad and diverse curriculum. To support academic success, dedicated English lessons are provided by qualified ESOL teachers, ensuring each student receives personalised guidance and language development.

Beyond the classroom, students can take part in a vibrant enrichment programme, featuring a wide array of extracurricular activities designed to enhance their overall Itchen experience.

And the International School provides monthly trips and activities, giving you the opportunity to experience the highlights of England, indulge in adventure, and make the most of what Southampton has to offer.

This popular programme welcomes students from around the globe, creating a dynamic, inclusive, and internationally-minded school community.

  • 1 term (11th Jan – 4th April)
  • 1 semester (11th Jan – 22nd May)
  • 6 Months (11th Jan – 27th June)

September 2026 – APPLICATIONS OPEN

  • 1 term (27th August – 19th December)
  • 1 semester (27th August – 30th January 2027 )
Course Details

September and January start:

  • 18-22 hours of study per week
  • 4 hours per week of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
  • A Level, Level 3 Vocational, Level 2 courses available
  • Class Size: maximum 25
  • Students are given a final report at the end of their stay detailing attendance, academic progression and attitude to learning
Entry Requirements

Students must meet the following entry criteria:

  • Age 16 – 18
  • English level equivalent of B1 or IELTS 5.0 (no formal qualification required however we may complete initial assessment tests to ensure the correct level has been achieved)
  • Satisfactory school report

Most students can stay in the UK for up to six months visa-free. To check if you need a visa, please consult the UK Government website.

An Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is now required to enter or visit the UK. This digital permission to travel costs £16 and permits multiple journeys to the UK for stays of up to sixth months, at a time of over two years or until your passport expires, whichever is sooner. Your ETA can be obtained here.
