Next Steps and the College Interview

We aim to process your application within four weeks and you should be sent a letter of acknowledgement or an interview slot during these two weeks via post. You will not receive a confirmation email from us as our first point of contact is typically by letter.

Please note: if you are applying during the school/college holidays, it is possible there will be a delay in processing your application.

If it has been over three weeks and you have not received any letter from us, please get in contact as we may need to confirm your application status or the details you have provided on your application.

Once we have received your application form, we will invite you to attend an initial interview at Itchen (due to current circumstances, your interview may have to be conducted by telephone) to discuss your chosen courses and programme of study.

The timescale between application and an interview slot is dependent on the amount of applicants we are currently processing. Please be advised that there may be a wait of more than two weeks between when your application is processed and when you are invited for a College interview.

For EU students or those from Ireland, we will arrange an interview via Skype.

Offer of a Place

After a successful initial interview and when we have seen a reference from your school, a recent full school report and proof of ID, providing all is well, you will be offered a place at Itchen.

This offer reserves your place on the main courses of interest to you. Once you accept this offer, your place to study at Itchen is guaranteed. However, the programme of courses that you will study is provisional and will depend on the GCSE grades you achieve.

Some students change their minds about what they want to study after their interview; we understand that a lot can happen during the year and our Admissions staff will be able to help you. Contact us by phone, by email, at our Open Events and at the College Welcome Event if this is the case.

College Welcome Event

Your real introduction to College life takes place in June/July at the College Welcome Event. Here you can try out the subjects you have chosen, meet the students who will be starting College with you, and begin to find your way around. In addition, there is an information evening at which your parents can meet senior staff informally.

Enrolment

At enrolment in August and after you have received your GCSE results, your enrolment interviewer will review all your options with you again and will make sure that your programme is really right for you.

Quick Tips
  • Applying online is quicker and easier than applying by post.
  • We will try and process your application within two weeks of submission.
  • You will receive an email acknowledging your submission and a letter in the post offering you an interview slot.
  • Due to the high volume of applications we receive, there may be a wait of a few weeks between your application and College interview.
  • Please bring a valid form of ID, your College reference and a school report to your interview, otherwise we will not be able to offer you a place to study at the College.
