This Diploma is ideal if you have always wanted a career in education, social work or psychology but lacked the qualifications required to apply to university. This is a fully online course which allows you to study for your dream career at the most convenient time and from the comfort of your own home. From the moment of your enrolment you will have access to the learning and study materials so you can begin working toward your dream job without further delay! Your unique Individual Learning Plan will contain information about when assignments are due for submission to enable you to stay motivated and on track. This flexible approach allows you to combine family or work commitments with a successful study programme; you decide how and when to complete your studies. This Diploma provides you with the information and skills necessary for academic study as well as specific units on Developmental Psychology; Sociology of Health; Combating Prejudice & Discrimination to ensure you are ready to embrace the exciting challenge of studying at university.
All applicants will complete an initial assessment for maths and English to ascertain the level you are currently working at. You are required to have a level 1.5 in English to be able to do the course.
Applicants are required to submit a 500 word essay outlining why they would like to complete the course and their career plan, this enables us to assess you current standard of written work to ensure you will succeed in the course and ensure the course is the right next step for you.
Most universities will require you to have a GCSE or equivalent qualification grade of C/4 or above is required in both English and maths, but may accept Functional Skills at Level 2. If English is not your first language then an IELTS score of 6.5 or above is required.
Access to Higher Education Diplomas has been designed to help learners follow their academic aspirations and get them into their chosen university. Each university has its own admission criteria, and some may even differ from course to course. You are advised to conduct research to ensure you meet the entry requirements for your university and subject of choice.
Itchen College’s online Access to Higher Education Diplomas are validated by AIM.
Assessment is through a variety of coursework methods and you will also benefit from interactive and personalised study materials. The assignments will give you the opportunity to confirm your knowledge and understanding of the subject. Our team of dedicated tutors will be with you every step of the way on your journey to success. Assessment of your work will be completed through assignments for each unit in the course. Your tutor will provide you with feedback and a grade for each unit when they assess your work. Access to Higher Education Diplomas generate 60 credits at Level 3; 45 will come from graded units based on the academic subject areas included in the course, whilst the remaining 15 will largely be drawn from ungraded units designed to improve your academic writing and study skills.
The tuition fee for the course is £3,384.00 + £170 registration fee.
If you are aged between 19-23 year and do not already have a L3 qualification you may be eligible for full government funding.
If you are aged between 19 – 23 years and do have a full level 3 qualification you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the tuition fee
