Itchen College students are celebrating another year of excellent results, with strong outcomes across both A Level and vocational programmes.

Students have achieved a 95% provisional pass rate for A Levels, with over a third of students achieving grades between A* and B and two thirds achieving grades between A* and C.

There has also been excellent success across the college’s vocational programmes. All students on T Level courses passed their course, achieving Distinction and Merit grades, while students on other vocational courses achieved a 99% pass rate, with 80% achieving Merit grades or better.

Principal Rebecca Stratton said:

“I am immensely proud of the dedication and hard work shown by our students, supported by our talented staff, parents, guardians, and the broader college community. These excellent results highlight Itchen College’s continued commitment to excellence across academic and vocational education. Huge congratulations to all our students – we wish them the very best in their next steps.”

Celebrating our students

Results Day is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of all our students, whether they have achieved exceptional grades, exceeded their expectations or discovered a clear direction for their future.

This year’s results have seen students achieve outstanding grades across both academic and vocational programmes, with many now progressing to university, while others are continuing their studies or taking time to plan their next steps.

Among the students celebrating today are Jack, Eve, Daniel, Annie and Thomas, whose results highlight just some of the different journeys taken by Itchen students.

Jack celebrates outstanding A Level results

Jack achieved an outstanding set of A*, A, A and A grades and will now progress to the University of Southampton to study Software Engineering.

His results mark an impressive achievement and the beginning of his next step into higher education.

Eve achieves Distinction* grades and heads to Durham

Eve is celebrating excellent vocational results, achieving two Distinction* grades and a B after studying Uniformed Protective Services and Criminology.

She will now progress to Durham University to study Criminology.

Eve said that when she started at Itchen, she had “no clue” what she wanted to do, but has since developed a clear ambition to become a detective within the police.

Reflecting on her time at Itchen, Eve said she was proud of “how far I’ve come”, and credited the entire UPS department, Criminology staff and her study mentor, Jane, with helping her reach this point.

Daniel achieves excellent A Level results before St Andrews

Daniel achieved A, A, C and C and will now progress to St Andrews University to study Computer Science.

Daniel said that he had always wanted to study Computer Science and is proud of his achievements, particularly his second-round UK Maths Challenge achievement.

He also highlighted the support of his teachers and friends during his time at Itchen.

Annie celebrates a Distinction

Annie is celebrating a Distinction following her vocational studies in Dance and Musical Theatre.

Rather than immediately progressing to university, Annie will be taking a gap year, giving her time to consider her next steps and plan for the future.

Her result is another example of the different routes students can take after Itchen, with Results Day marking not only the destination, but the beginning of the next stage of each student’s journey.

Thomas continues his journey at Itchen

Thomas achieved a Distinction in Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services.

He will be staying at Itchen for another year of college, continuing his studies as he develops a clearer idea of the career path he wants to pursue.

Thomas said that when he first joined the course, he had “no clue what service I wanted to join”, but now has a much clearer idea of what he wants to do.

He said he was most proud of “having a plan for my future career” and credited his teachers with helping him get to where he is today.

Looking ahead

For our students receiving their results today, this is the beginning of their next chapter.

Whether progressing to university, continuing their studies, taking a gap year, moving into employment or following another pathway, each student’s journey is different.

We are incredibly proud of the achievements of all our students and the hard work that has gone into reaching this point.

Congratulations to all our students on their achievements, and thank you to the staff, families and wider college community who have supported them along the way.
