Why Choose Business and Travel & Tourism?

The Level 1 Introductory Certificate is designed to develop practical skills, providing learners with the opportunity to acquire generic, transferable, and sector-specific skills that enable progression to further study, apprenticeships, or employment. Sector-based units will give focus on branding for a product or business, customer service skills and presenting information about visitor attractions.

What You Will Explore

This one-year programme offers opportunities to study units from different subjects including Business and Travel & Tourism. It also focuses on employability skills such as developing a personal progression plan and being organised. Students have the chance to study maths and English alongside. Work experience is also built into this programme.

Skills You Will Develop

Students will develop techniques for organising work, setting priorities, and managing time effectively. You’ll also learn how to set personal goals and enhance your employability skills. The course covers key business concepts, including the role and importance of branding, and provides insights into local visitor attractions from a tourism perspective. Additionally, you’ll build confidence using digital communication tools such as email, social media, and video calls.

Where can Level 1 Business Lead?

Upon completion of the course, students who achieve a Merit or Distinction and demonstrate progress in Maths and English may progress to Level 2 qualifications, including GCSEs. Depending on individual progress, students may also move on to other vocational courses, supported Internships (with an EHCP), or enter employment.
