With seven dedicated contract bus routes, we support students travelling from areas including Baddesley, Bishops Waltham, Bishopstoke, Chandlers Ford, Fareham, Gosport, Hamble, Hedge End, Lee-on-the-Solent, Netley, Park Gate, Portchester, Romsey, Swanmore, Swaythling, Warsash and Whiteley, and many more.
Please see our full bus route information below for detailed timetables and stops.
In addition to our seven morning and afternoon services, we also operate three lunchtime bus routes. These services allow students with no morning lessons to travel to College for afternoon sessions. Similarly, students who only have morning lessons can return home at lunchtime at no additional cost.
Please use the information below to help you plan your journey to Itchen College.
The College bus service is operated by Xelabus, and a bus pass for 2026/27 costs £650.
To purchase a College bus pass, please visit the College shop on the website and select the appropriate pass. Once payment has been completed, bus passes can be collected at enrolment or from the Finance Office.
If your area is not served by a College contract route, you can travel to College using Bluestar buses. Bluestar offers a subsidised bus pass scheme for Southampton colleges. For further information, please contact our Transport Officer or visit the Bluestar website.

Itchen students can now also download the ‘Itchen College Tracker’ bus tracking app. This will enable you to track your bus in real time.
College buses will stop at any bus stop on the published route, but please be sure to ‘flag down’ the bus, so that it is clear to the driver that you want the bus to stop. The bus will not stop unless you do this. Bus timetables show estimated departure times from stops – the actual departure times will vary depending on traffic flow, so please arrive at your stop at least five minutes before the published time. On occasions, buses will be delayed due to circumstances beyond our control, but we communicate emergency issues to students by using the notifications facility on the bus tracking app.
Students from Totton and the Waterside have the option of using Bluestar services 6, 8, 9, 11 or 12 and transferring at Southampton Central Station to the Bluestar 18, which will drop students off within walking distance to the college. Bluestar has a subsidised bus pass arrangement for Southampton Colleges, and for more information you can contact our Transport Officer or visit the Bluestar website.
