Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator)

Although there are no specific entry requirements for this course it should be noted that GCSE English  A-C/4-9 (or accepted equivalent) is required to count in the staff to child ratios at Level 3 in childcare settings.

You will need 350 placement hours in an Early Years setting and will need the support of a professional within that work environment. This is approximately 12 hours per week. Students should have placements established in preparation for this course. You will need to be working in an Early Years Setting.

Evidence for the 23 mandatory units required to pass will be provided in the form of a portfolio of your work, and also through competence based assessment carried out in your workplace by a qualified assessor who will offer you support and guidance. There is no formal exam. You will be required to attend one 3 hour teaching session in college per week for 30 weeks to gain the knowledge and understanding necessary to complete your portfolio.

You will need to undertake independent study for approximately 4 hours per week.

Fees and Funding

Our Early Years Level 3 course is funded through the Free Courses for Jobs scheme, subject to eligibility criteria.

Funding is available to eligible learners aged 19 or over who meet the relevant residency and funding requirements.

If you are not eligible for Free Courses for Jobs funding, alternative funding options may be available, depending on your circumstances.

The non refundable registration fee for Level 3 is £154.50

Non-refundable administration fee which provides you with a student ID badge & £11 print credit to use in college.
